I'm obsessed.

Guys, I'm obsessed with the Olympics!!! I mean, I always have been, just ask my mom. I can't stop watching them, even the events no one seems to like.
More blogging to come in the future! Now, it's time to watch some more Olympics. :D

My Trip to Boston

My blog hiatus all started off with my business trip to Boston. I left very very early Sunday morning (in the last week of June) - we're talking 3:30am people, ugh. My flight was supposed to leave at 5:50am. Yeah, that didn't happen because they were servicing the plane. Sigh. You know in the Amazing Race when the participants are running around trying to get on stand-by and/or are trying to change their flight? That was me. Alas, there was nothing to be done. We finally left around 8:15/8:30. Needless to say, I missed my connection to Boston, so, I had to stay the night. Hey, at least they give you hotel and $10 meal vouchers!

Monday morning came, and I finally got there. Well, sort of. You see, when I landed it was thunder storming. Normally I love a good thunder storm, but today, well, today I needed to get to my convention! I was stuck on the plane for over two hours. I could see the gate from my seat, but the crew was not allowed out while there was lightning.
FINALLY I got to the convention, had lunch, sat at the booth, had a wonderful dinner with my boss, and got checked in to my hotel.

Tuesday, my boss left for another convention, and I was on my own. Luckily, it was only a half day. After I was done at the convention, I got lunch, took a nap, and then I went on a duck tour and saw a Red Sox game at Fenway! Oh yeah, I also got awkwardly hit on while I was at the game...sorry boys, I'm taken. Did make me feel good about myself I suppose.

All in all, it was a good trip. Boston is such a cool and beautiful city - I already want to go back. I think I just need to do a whole northeast tour.

Have a great day friends, and happy August! :)

The Olympics are Here!

{Via}
The Olympics have begun, and I'm SO EXCITED! I love the Olympics! The funny thing is, I'm not very athletic, or that competitive - ok, ok...I can be competitive, but not like this. Regardless, I've always had a fascination and love for the Olympics.

Unlike many people I've talked to, I enjoyed the opening ceremonies. Was it bizarre? Yes. Did it get confusing? Absolutely. But, I still managed to enjoy them.

How was everyone's week? My was filled with  getting used to a new office building and work (per usual). I did manage to go out to happy hour with co-workers, watch project runway with a friend, and of course I watched the opening ceremonies, but other than that, it's been work, work, and work. This weekend I'm going to get some good relaxing in. I feel like I could use it :) Well, that and I'm going wine tasting tomorrow! Hooray :D

What are your weekend plans?

Do you like the Olympics? What are some of your favorite events to watch?

Have a great weekend friends!

Guess Who's Back - Back Again

Well friends, it has been just over a month since I last blogged. What inspired this hiatus? It all started off with my business trip to Boston. I already want to go back to Boston - I feel like there's so much to do and see there. I enjoy traveling, but it was nice to be back in my own bed with my hubby.

After Boston, I had a lot of work to catch up on, friends to see, weddings to coordinate and attend, my 3 year anniversary (yup, I've been married 3 years...crazy, huh?!) and honestly, I just wasn't feeling inspired/I forgot to blog. Happens to the best of us.

Our company is moving offices, so I had the luxury of getting off at 2pm on Thursday, and having the entire day off Friday. I went out to a late lunch and got mani/pedis with some co-workers, I saw The Dark Knight Rises (SO GOOD!!!), and I relaxed. It was glorious.

I'm excited to "start" blogging again, though I'm still debating the Tumblr vs. Blogger thing. Anyway, I hope you all had a great weekend.

Living Room Design Ideas from Design Shuffle

Today, we have a special guest post from Design Shuffle. I hope you enjoy their living room
design ideas as much as I have.

**********************

Hi, Joanna here! I’m a writer for Design Shuffle, a decorating site which offers interior designers a platform for sharing their work and design enthusiasts a chance to find decorating ideas and images. I am passionate about my work. I enjoy creating posts such as this to share on blogs like My Berried Life. Today, I bring you some of my favorite living room interior design ideas. Enjoy!

Living Room Idea
A gallery wall creates a focal point in this eclectic living room. The vintage poster theme pulls the room’s style and colors together. Living Room Idea
Creating multiple seating areas divides the space and makes it look more spacious. Be sure the colors are balanced from one area to the next. Living Room Idea
In living room designs, a stunning light fixture, like this ship-shaped chandelier, can also be used a focal point and to draw the eye upward. Living Room Idea
Mixing black and white with a third color makes a room pop like the pink does in this lovely living/dining area. Living Room Idea
A brilliant accent wall adds personality and character to any space. A bright blue in this living room makes the white elements appear crisp and pristine. Living Room Idea
Go pink in the living room for a sassy and vibrant feel. This hot pink and white beauty is energetic and inviting. Would you dare go pink in your own space? Living Room Idea
Like the zebra rug pictured here, an animal print element gives any room a sophisticated vibe. Use these prints on furniture in moderation for an equally chic effect. Living Room Idea
Add pillows, pillows and more pillows to any space for an additional touch of comfort. The pillows here are used as seating and decoratively. Inspire any decorating ideas?

Weekend Review

Saturday, I had a wonderful time in Los Olivos tasting wine and going to a wine pick-up party with one of my best friends, Joelle. Good food, good wine, best friend...could it get any better?

Sunday, I had a very relaxing and lazy day. It was a no makeup, t-shirt and shorts kind of day. Of course, I wished my dad a happy father's day, but he's all the way in Texas, and Tyler's dad is off on a golfing trip, so I didn't have any dads to celebrate with.
After Tyler got off work, we went out with some of his co-workers to a local bar. It was a pretty good time!

This week hasn't been too bad so far. Lots of prepping for my work trip to Boston. I'm so excited about this trip! I've never been to Boston, so if you have any recommendations of where to go, what to do and see, please, send them my way. I'd be most appreciative.

I think we could use some inspiration for the rest of the week, what do you guys think? This has become one of my favorite quotes of late, so please enjoy:

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”

Keep on Going

I was getting so much better at being motivated to do things after work. In fact, I even worked out BEFORE work a few times. What?! Crazy. Alas, I feel that I'm going back to my old ways...I think I've even gained some weight back, sigh. Maybe I need to find a class to go to to keep my motivation up. I'm thinking Zumba and Yoga. I do enjoy both of those a lot. I've also heard good things about Cardio Barre/the Barre Method. Thoughts?

I need your guys's opinion on something. Do you think it's weird that I have a Tumblr and a blog? I mean, they're both blogs...but they are slightly different. I use my tumblr mostly to look at other people's tumblrs and to re-blog pictures. Do I keep both? Do I pick one? Can I combine them? What do you guys think?

Hope you had a fantastic day!

Inspiration

Happy Monday friends! How was your weekend?
Friday I had a delightful dinner/drinks and saw a movie with one of my best friends. Saturday, I assisted with a wedding. It was so much fun! Everyone there was so sweet.

After this fun weekend, I thought we could all use some inspiration for the week. :)

Learning New Things

I need to learn a better way to put up photos rather than just uploading them. I know how to use photoshop, but I'm not that great, and I can get impatient/frustrated with it. I love the look of the numbers with the photos, the combo ones (more than one photo per thing), and the ones with the fun borders. If anyone could teach me that would be great. :)

How's everyone's week so far? I've been getting trained in Outlook, getting trained in the new phone system at work, and  just living life. Work has been busy off and on, and this week hasn't been too bad! Breaks are nice. :)

Happy Tuesday Friends!

Weekend Agenda

Happy Friday and, happy June! Can you believe it's June already?! I feel like I say that about every month, haha. But I really can't believe that June/the summer is here!
{Via}

This weekend, I'm going to a company picnic, going to the Angels/Rangers game, and going a lovely book club brunch with some of my wonderful lady friends. Good weekend, huh?

What's in store for everyone else this weekend?

Monday's Mantra

Today, I was inspired by Joelle's Monday's Mantra post, so I decided, why not link up?

Before I get to the mantra... I hope you all are having a great 3 day weekend and getting a lot accomplished, even if it's just relaxing :). Relaxing can be an accomplishment too, ya know. But, I hope you all are also remembering why we have this wonderful 3 day weekend.

Now, here's the Mantra/thought for you guys this week.
Happy Monday Friends.

The Bedroom - Inspiration

When I think of the bedroom I want, I think of something cozy, comfy, soft, and calm, yet
elegant and classy.
When I think of colors I want in a bedroom, I usually think of soft and neutral tones.
Since we have this "new" apartment, it's the perfect time to decorate/re-decorate.

As I've mentioned before, I enjoy dark woods, mixing dark and light colors, and adding pops of color to things. When thinking of the bedroom I want, I usually imagine a dark wood or iron bed frame, with a light colored bedspread (think cream, grey, or blue). Of course, there will be pops of color in the room. I'm not afraid of color in the bedroom, I just want it to be a calm and restful place, and listen, red and pink aren't really that restful to me. But, don't get me wrong, I'd love to use them as my pop of color...they just can't be the main color.

The photos below are some that are inspiring me on how our bedroom should look/feel.

Getting Motivated!

For all of those working girls out there (guys are welcome to give advice too, of course), how do you get motivated to do things after work?

I'm finding it hard to get motivated to cook, clean, go grocery shopping, work out, etc. after work. Ok, ok, sometimes I cook and I do clean a lot, but other than that, I relax, watch TV, and read. I really need to get back on track with my work outs though. I'm starting to notice that some pants are fitting a little tighter. I'm sure it's not noticeable, but I notice, and that's all that really matters.

Anyway, how do you guys get motivated to do things after work? I really need to figure it out
and get my butt into gear!  Maybe I just need to give myself some more time to get used to the job/my schedule. But hopefully I will snap out of this just relaxing thing soon and actually get some more stuff done after work. That's the goal anyway.

Happy Wednesday Friends!

Thoughts for Wednesday

{Via}
Ok, so, who saw The Avengers this weekend? Anybody? Tyler and I did. It's so good! I can't stop talking/thinking about it. I'm totally ready to see it again. Now, I'm not going to give anything away, but if you go to see it, stay to the VERY end of the credits. THE VERY END!

I think we all need some thoughts and inspiration for the rest of the week, what do you think?

Happy Wednesday Friends!

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Other than the car incident and some stress at work, this week wasn't so bad. The good news is, I made it through! I'm still trying to figure out this whole work and play balance. For example, I think of all of these great recipes and stuff to cook, but once I get home I have NO motivation. Any tips, tricks, or advice? And no, it's not because I don't like to cook, in fact, I'm learning that I can quite enjoy it.

Yesterday was Cinco de Mayo, or as I call it, Cinco de Drinko. Tyler had to work til about 6, then it was off to his sister's boyfriend's housewarming. Since it was Cinco de Mayo, I thought I should wear something, cute and colorful. I wore a royal blue frilly tank (Forever 21 a few years ago), coral shorts (American Eagle), black flip flops with gold trim (Love Culture), black earrings with colorful flowers (Forever 21 a few years ago).

Today is kind of a lazy day for me. Tyler's at work, so I ran some errands and did some cleaning, but now, I'm just sitting on the couch catching up on some TV. Delightful.
What are you all up to on this beautiful Sunday?
Any tips, tricks, or advice on how to get motivated to cook once I get home from work?
Happy Sunday Friends :)

Off to a Rocky Start

Happy May Friends! I hope your week (and May) is off to a good start.

Let me just tell you about mine...
Well, Monday, work was fine...I learned all about my benefits and the company I work for. I get home relax a little bit, and then go to meet Tyler at his sister's work. You see, on Monday and Wednesday Tyler has night class and borrows his sister's car while she's at work. So nice of her :), anyway,  I walk out to the parking garage and see our bumper messed up and parts of the car on the ground. WHAT?! There was no note or anything. I made sure I was able to drive away and nothing would fall off, but boy was I pissed! Later, we saw there was a voice-mail and email from one of our apartment managers saying there had been an accident and gave us the guy's information. Thank goodness! I'm so glad that it wasn't a hit and run...there are still good people in the world!
There's a tad more to this story...so, there's this pipe by our space and they put this metal plate in front of it so you don't hit the pipe (why metal? I have no idea...). I've always thought we'd hit that it someday, but not last night. I was so concerned about being up far enough that I gave our car two nice scratches. Sigh. Side-note, this is now the third time our car has been hit since we've bought it. All 3 times the car has been parked. Grrrr. Is this some sort of sign?!

Ah well, the rest of the week is shaping up to be good...I hope. Haha.  :)

 Happy Tuesday!

Where is this Going?

Apparently I fail at scheduling posts. My one post that was supposed to be up on 4/19 didn't post..I fixed the problem, and it finally posted yesterday. Though, it says it posted on the 19th...confused? Me too.

Anyway, I know I've been spotty with posts, but I'm really trying to figure out this whole work vs. play balance. I will get there...eventually.
I'm also, (as I have been doing a lot lately) trying to evaluate what I want to do with this blog. I know, I know, I've been writing about this a lot, but I could really use some pointers. I like writing about my life with Tyler, travel, weddings, and well, whatever I feel like. Sometimes I feel like I need more of a focus, what do you guys think?

I guess I should really just do what I want to do, but it can be hard to put yourself out there. What if people don't like what you're posting about? What if you're posts/blog aren't as good as other peoples' posts/blog? I guess what I'm really looking for is, advice and direction. :)

Happy Friday friends! I hope you all are having a great day

Thoughts for Thursday

Hello friends! Happy Thursday to ya!
So, Monday afternoon at work, say around 3/3:30, my computer freezes. No big deal, right? You just have to reboot. Yeah, my hard drive crashed. Luckily, since I had only been working there a week, there wasn't too much information on there. The next morning, I had to get a loaner computer...a tiny little laptop...nice for home, not so great for work. I finally got my computer around noon. Well, it wasn't my old computer...mine was dead. They had to give me a new computer already! Sigh. Ah well, at least I have a computer that works now!
For the rest of this week, I think we should all take these words into consideration...

The Start of Something New

Source: google.co.il

I finally started my job! AHHHH! I was stressed, nervous, anxious, excited...everything. And guess what? I still am. Let's now add overwhelmed to the pot. But, I will persevere and power through this! My boss said I'm doing well and already ahead of where she'd thought I'd be. I just started Monday, which is why you haven't heard from me in awhile. Boy, was I overwhelmed. I had many stressful moments over the week, but somehow, I got through it. I think I'm going to like this job.
I had a realization at work that this is now my life..I get up, get ready, go to work, work, and drive home. It's such a weird feeling that I'm finally working again. There's a lot to learn, but I think I can do it. I just need to get into a good schedule/routine. I need to figure out when I work out, when I clean, when we need to do laundry, etc. I know this will all come in time, but I wish it could hapen sooner rather than later.

For this job, I'm going to travel which is cool. I know it will be hard, but I think I can do it! :D

How do you feel when you start a new job?
How long does it take you to feel comfortable?
Do you get realizations and freak outs at work too?

A Very Special Day!

Why is it such a special day? Well, for one thing, it's Easter! And another...it's my husband's birthday! :D

Happy Easter friends, and Happy Birthday Tyler! I hope you all have a great day!
He is Risen! Alleluia!

Easter Celebrations

Easter. "...celebrates Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead, is Christianity's most important holiday" (via). This is the way  I was brought up...Easter was a religious holiday. Of course, we did Easter egg hunts, took pictures with the Easter bunny, and got Easter baskets and candy, but first and foremost, it was a religious holiday. My family would get up way to early to go to our church's sunrise service (this was at about 7am). Afterwards, we would have breakfast at the church, go home and get our Easter baskets, and do an Easter egg hunt.Of course we would have a delicious Easter lunch or dinner. Mmm, sounds so good right now!
Tyler's family would go to church in the morning, then get together with extended family. While with his family, they would get their Easter baskets and candy, do an Easter agg hunt, and have a delicious lunch. Must be nice to have your family so close together. My extended family is spread out; we're in like 5 different states!
Well, Tyler and I don't really have any  of our own Easter traditions yet, seeing as we don't have any kids. Not that is really an excuse, but I digress. Last Easter (our first Easter by ourselves), we made crepes and had a nice day at home. This year, Tyler's birthday happens to be on Easter, so it's a double celebration! His mom is so excited to have him home on his birthday, that she wanted to host an Easter celebration at their house. So, we're going to have brunch and dinner with his family and some family friends.  It's going to be a full, fun day!
If I were hosting the Easter celebration, I would be sure to have some great decoration and food! Here are some things that are inspiring me for Easter:

We'd also have to have brunch or dinner food, depending on the party. I'm thinking for dinner, something like ham or lamb. This is making me hungry, I need to stop.
I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Easter! :)

What a Day

Man, what a day today! I started off the day at the DMV (ugh, at least I made an appointment), found out there were crazy tornadoes in my home town (Dallas), ran errands for Easter/Tyler's birthday with the mother-in-law, and got Instagram for my android phone. That's right friends, there is now instagram for those of us who have Android! :D

I'm thanking God this evening for keeping my family safe through all of the craziness, but  remembering and praying for those who were not as fortunate.

I'm so excited for Easter/Tyler's birthday. I think it's going to be a great day with his family. A long day, but fun, with lots of delicious food and good company.
I also can't wait for Tyler to get his birthday presents! He has some really good ones coming! :D I would tell you what they are, but if I did, it would be the day he decided to read my blog...haha.

I hope you all had a good day. Stay safe friends!

All Around Good Time

I think our party went well last night! It was a nice gathering of friends and some family. We had delicious food, great wine, and good company. All in all a fun time. Unfortunately, some people's allergies started acting up (stupid cat). Oh, yes, we have a cat...well, it's not ours, it's Tyler's sister's, but since she lives with us, we have to deal with it. It's cute...sometimes...

I made two cheesecakes (one boysenberry and one regular with a cream cheese topping) and pineapple wrapped with bacon. All three of those thing were delicious, not that I have a bias or anything...haha. Tyler made chicken wings (a recipe he found online that consisted of soy sauce, garlic, and honey). Man, were his wings good! However, my Pyrex is still soaking...grrr. We also provided sweet potato pop chips, chips and salsa, bread, meatballs, cheese wrapped with meat, and some beer and wine. We had some friends bring food as well: yummy vanilla macaroons (I really could just keep snacking on those things), veggie pizza, fruit kebabs (such good fruit!), and blue cheese guacamole. Everything was so delicious. I really need to start taking more pictures, because everything was just so good!
It looked great too!

Tyler and I have this thing where we hate being hungry at parties, so, we try and provide people with a lot of food and drink. That way, if you didn't have a chance to eat dinner, you can be satisfied, but if you just want a snack, you have great appetizer options to choose from and snack on.
Some of the wine for the party.

Well, I hope everyone is having a nice and relaxing Sunday. Besides the cleaning up, I know we're having a very relaxing day. :) Happy Palm Sunday everybody!

Home Creations

Happy Friday Friends! So, I updated the couch a bit:
What do you think? I think it help to bring in that MUCH needed color. We still need to  hang more things on the wall, but it's a work in progress.
The floral pillow came in a pack of two from Homegoods. Oh, Homegoods...how I love you.It was such a great find! It's the pillows, plus the cover, AND they're machine washable! Even better.

The yellow and white stripped pillows are from a store in Germany called Moemaxx. It was on our couch in German, and since then, they have been on our bed. I decided since it's the spring, it's time to bring on the color! Plus, they look great with the other pillows on the couch.

Tyler and I are having a housewarming/his birthday party on Saturday. We're so excited to host our first party in our new place!
For this grand occasion, I decided to make some wine charms:

I just used some black eye pins and a bag of multicolored craft beads. Simple huh? Not as cute as I may have liked, but I think they'll be useful. :)

Well, that's all I have for you guys today. Look forward to a post later this weekend about our big party (I'm making boysenberry cheesecake, regular cheesecake with a sour cream topping, pineapple
wrapped with bacon, and much more! )
What are your plans for the weekend? Anything fun?
Have a great day friends :)
