Weekend Review

Saturday, was the girl scout Masquerade Ball. The girls were all dressed up, masks and all, and they all looked SO GREAT! :). I think they had a good time too; most of them didn't want to leave hehe. Guess we did good, huh? The event was from 2 to 4 (pm of course). So it's not lunch, and it's not dinner...what does one do? Snacks and decorating cookies of course! I was helping at that station, so an apron was a MUST haha. We had four different stations, craft (you get your picture taken, then you make a frame for it), cookie decorating, makeup (with temporary tattoos there as well) and dancing. They learned the Popcorn dance...I think that's what it's called anyway. At the end they performed the dance they learned and there was a mask contest. It was so much fun! :)

No I did not make the mask...I bought it hehe. It was so cheap and so pretty, how could I pass it up? :p
After the Masquerade Ball,  I went to my husband's Captain's house to have a meeting about the FRG's (Family Readiness Group's) Christmas Party. I volunteered to help with that, as did my dear friend Jessica, as my last hoorah before we leave. I LOVE planning things and I LOVE Christmas, so naturally I had to help. It was fun to get together with Jessica and two other woman and eat, chat, and plan, but it made for a long day. When I finally got home, I was so tired.
Sunday, I relaxed and cleaned the apartment. Later, I went over to Jessica's to have some girl time before the guys come home. hehe.
Monday and today, I ran errands, and am preparing the apartment for Tyler's arrival. Also had a fun lunch today with my neighbor/friend Casey hehe. So ready to have Tyler home! About damn time in fact. ha.
How's everybody else doing?

Hair Cut!

Tuesday, I went to a new hairstylist (she's German :) ) with my wonderful friend and neighbor, Casey. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do, but I knew I needed my hair cut...especially my bangs. I knew I want shorter bang, but I had no idea how I should cut my hair.
Once we got to the salon, the woman was infatuated with my hair. She couldn't believe how healthy it was and how great the color looked (Note: I do not color or highlight my hair in any way). She asked what I wanted to do to my hair, so I showed her the picture of bangs. "What about the length?" she asks. I was thinking/talking about keeping my hair long, but as I was talking to the hairstylist (who has SUPER long hair), she's like, "would you like to change it up?"
"Sure." I mean, why not right? I was thinking shoulder length, then as we're talking, she was like, why not try a bob...you'd look SO CUTE, but it will be very short. As long as we leave some below the chin, you will look great. I was like, why the hell not? Its just hair hahaha. Best part, Tyler has NO IDEA.
Here are some pics...what do you guys think? :D This is the shortest I've like EVER had my hair. I've done a longer bob, before, but this is SHORT (for me). I think I like it though.
:)
Side view? haha
It was hard to get a good picture of the back. I may try again later.

lol...my sad ponytail.

Wedding Wednesday: Theme Weddings

Welcome to Wedding Wednesday! Woohoo! :)
Today, we're going to be talking about theme weddings. Now, I'm not just talking about people using pumpkins because their wedding is in the fall, snowflakes because it's in the winter, or their wedding has some vintage inspiration...I'm also talking about people who have, for example, circus/carnival weddings, Halloween themed weddings, 1920's themed weddings, Star Wars themed weddings, etc. You name it, it's probably been done.
Now, I really don't have a problem with theme weddings, it's just some, well, how do I put this nicely? Some are just too much for me. Some are super cute, but some are just over-the-top RIDICULOUS!

Ok, I really need to stop, but this is too much fun! haha. Some theme weddings are so cool, but some are just plain bizarre. For some I just want to be like, how cool!, or how interesting/creative, or that's so cool/intriguing, but I would never do it. But others, oh man...I REALLY dislike them. I just don't see how people can do some of these. I mean, it is your day, so who am I to tell you what to do.
I'm really loving the fall, winter, country and beach themed ones though. :)
For our wedding, I could never really settle on just one theme, so we decided to have a wedding that had a fun, romantic and vintage feel to it. Not really a theme per say, but it worked for us. :)

What theme, if any, would you or did you pick for your wedding?

A Weekend Review

"Pink it´s my new obsession
Pink it´s not even a question
Pink on the lips of your lover, ´cause
Pink is the love you discover ..."
- Aerosmith from the song Pink

Speaking of Pink, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. As if you didn't know...haha. Saturday morning, I did a 5k Breast Cancer Fun Run on post with some of my friends/neighbors. I'm so glad that I did it. Sure I walked the whole way, but it was still fun to do...and it supports a great cause. Not to get too sentimental or anything, but my mom had breast cancer, so this hits close to home. No worries, she is fine now (after chemo, radiation, a bilateral mastectomy, reconstructive sugary... ya know).

Now, let's head back to Friday. Friday night, I attended a Pure Romance Party. Now, I have been to Passion parties before, but not Pure Romance. Don't get me wrong, they're the same thing...just different companies. It was so much fun! Also, Army wives are crazy! haha ;p. But if you think about it, we're left alone all the time for trainings, deployments, etc. I think you'd be a little crazy too, if ya know what I mean. There was lots of food, drinks, talking (it's all girls of course there's talking hahaha), I drank half a bottle of wine (whoops)...all in all a very fun time...the perfect girls night in fact. And don't you worry, I was fine the next morning to the Breast Cancer Fun Run. :p

Sunday, I took it easy. I watched some TV/movies, I folded laundry, cleaned a little and took two walks. One was just me and the iPod...always nice, and the other, I drove to a friend's house, who lives about 8 minutes or so away and we walked with her neighbor who is trying to learn English. It was very interesting. There are so many pretty places to walk around here; I'm really going to miss that.

Today, Monday, I've been kind of lazy. I did go downtown with a neighbor and her daughter to help her find clothes, now I need to work on getting stuff done for the girl scout event this weekend. AH! Can't believe the Masquerade Ball is almost here!

How was everyone else's weekend?
Are you doing anything this month for breast cancer awareness?
Have you ever been to a passion or pure romance party?

Happy Monday Friends :)

Wedding Wednesday: Desserts

Hello friends! And welcome to Wedding Wednesday :)
Let's talk dessert. I love dessert. Cake, cookies, cupcakes, pie...it's all good! For our wedding, we chose to do pie. Why? Well, why not? Pie is delicious, and well, Tyler is a bigger fan of pie...he really doesn't like cake. Plus, we both felt that pie was more us. We had cherry, apple and boysenberry. And of course, we had vanilla ice cream to top it off :)

Now, we did what most couples do and ordered too many. So, we were able to give some away and have left-over pie for days, which was nice, but still, we could've saved money. Sigh. Ah well. While I saw most people eat at least a slice of pie, you REALLY don't need that much dessert. By the time dessert hits, people are full, on some sort of diet, it's not their thing, etc. So you really don't need as much dessert as you may think.
Now, the most popular choice for weddings is cake. I do love a good cake, but some wedding cakes are just ridiculous. Check out some of these:

What do you think? Any favorites? Any that you think are utterly ridiculous? As I said above, people usually order too much dessert...so why not get a smaller cake to cut and show off and a sheet cake in the back for guests. Saves money, and I for one am always up for saving money.
Cupcakes have become the most recent wedding dessert craze. I like cupcakes and I really think it's a cute idea, but it's almost becoming too popular. I still like it, and if you want to do it, more power to ya! :)

See anything you like? There are so many cute cupcakes out there, it was hard to just pick 4 pictures.
Now, here are some other wedding dessert ideas I've seen floating around the web...

Donuts

Dessert Bar (cookies, brownies, etc.) {via}
Mmmm. They all look so good! There are SO many options when it comes to wedding desserts. What will you choose?

Weekend Review

Friday, I went to the gym, cleaned, folded laundry (thrilling I know) and just relaxed. Saturday, I attempted to see Crazy, Stupid, Love. My friends and I got there and they told us that the last base had scratched it a little, so bits were ruined. We decided to not go and go back to my place to pick a movie to watch. If I would've been expecting people, I would've prepared more food, but since I wasn't I had to scramble together some things like chips and salsa. After the movie, we all started chatting, two of us has some wine and we stayed up til about 2:30! WHAT!? It was a lot of fun. Two of the girls husbands are deployed and me and the other girl's husbands are training, so it was a nice girls night. :)
Sunday, I took a very chilly walk (it's started to get cold booooo) and then, I actually saw Crazy, Stupid, Love. I really liked it! I mean, it's kind of depressing at times, but I REALLY liked it. Afterwards, I went to dinner to with my friend who I haven't seen in months. It was so nice to catch up. :)
Today, I'm going to go to the gym and hang out with some of the neighbors...go shopping and what not. :) Should be a good time!
   How was everyone else's weekend?

I love Weddings

Let's talk weddings and how I'm obsessed with them; I absolutely LOVE weddings.
I got married between my Junior and Senior years of college, July 7, 2009 before Tyler was deployed to Afghanistan. It was a small ceremony at Angels Stadium in Anaheim.
We renewed our vows and had the "big" wedding July 10, 2011...2 years and 3 days later. I loved it. Read more about it here and here . The location was perfect, I loved my dress, my shoes, my hair and makeup...well, maybe a lip stick that stays longer, but other than that loved it. Loved the food, loved the DJ, loved the event coordinators...the only thing I didn't absolutely love was the photographer. He was such a great person, came highly recommended, great reviews, great website, had like 4 or 5 cameras with him...and still we had pictures that turned out blurry or not at all. The photos with my parents blurry. Photos of my dress, not spectacular. Photo of us and all the parents...didn't turn out...photos of the train of my dress...didn't turn out. Neither of these were on the website or CD, apparently they were that bad. I think he was experimenting with us. He did give us a discount, and yeah we are already married, but these are our wedding photos. Some look great, but some are just weird...the idea was there, but it didn't turn out. Live and learn I guess. It makes me want to take anniversary pics in a few years (since we never even did proper engagement photos) and I want to take bridal portraits. Sigh. It won't happen, at least the bridal portraits, but still I'm upset.
I had so much fun, it was everything I could've dreamed of (well, I say that and I always pictured myself getting married at a castle or palace hahaha).
Anyway, I'm going to start doing wedding Wednesdays. I'm not sure why I haven't before...maybe I just didn't want to be "another one of those blogs" or maybe it's because two of my real life friends who blog do it. I'm not sure, but whatever the reason, I'm over it and will now join the wedding Wednesday world! Hooray! :)
*(I was going to leave you with some of the photographers photos, but uploading photos is currently failing...tomorrow or later today it is!)

Let's Talk TV

If you didn't know, Tyler and I are obsessed with love TV (movies too, but this post is for TV hehe). Now, as far as new shows go for Fall 2011, we've started watching:
Terra Nova

I'm already hooked and I've just seen the pilot. It's a very interesting and intense story. Going back in time to the age of dinosaurs because the world is too polluted...oh man. Ok, kinda preachy, but you get it. I think it's going to be a good show.
New Girl
Zooey Deschanel, need I say more? She's adorable, the show is adorable and funny. All in all good. I'm kind of sad they changed the one roommate already, but that's because he's on a different show, which I also like. Ah well. Tyler says it's more of a chick show (Yes Natasha, much like Alex haha), but he still watches it with me. hehe.
Suburgatory
It's cute, funny and I think people will be able to relate. There's only been one Episode, so we'll see how it goes, but so far I like it and Tyler says it's ok...he'll keep watching it though :p haha.
Up All Night
Now, we enjoy Christina Applegate and Will Arnett, so Tyler and I figured we'd enjoy this show. WE are both not the biggest fans of Maya Rudolph, but we'll deal. Thus far it's ok. It's funny, but I'm still undecided. We'll see if I keep watching.

I still need to try out Pan Am, Homeland and 2 Broke Girls. I might also check out How to be a Gentleman and The Playboy Club. Haha, can you see how much we love TV?
Here are some of the other shows we watch:
Glee
Love this show. It's ridiculous at times, but I love it. Tyler tried to watch it once...it's really not his thing. Ah well, more Glee for me! hehe. Also, it's on it's third season...what?!
The Amazing Race
We both watch this show pretty religiously. We've seen every season. :)
HIMYM
Greatness. Watched every season...love it. As I've said before...it makes me smile :)
Modern Family
Need I say more? It's pure greatness. Can't believe it's already on the third season.
Awkward
Kind of a guilty pleasure show. I think its hilarous and super awkward. Yes, Tyler watches it too muwhahaha. First season is over, but I'm excited for when it comes back hehe.
Happy Endings
It reminds me of HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother), so naturally, Tyler and I love it.
Breaking Bad
Boy is this show intense! I feel like it may end soon, but until it does, I will keep watching! So good.
Dexter
I like Dexter, but this show should really end soon. I'll miss it, but I think it's time has come to an end. The new season JUST started, so we'll see.
Community
So funny and ridiculous.
Boardwalk Empire
Simply amazing. Watch it...it won't disappoint. Season 2 just started!
Parks and Recreation
I was a late comer to this show, but I love it! I'm now all caught up just in time for the new season. So funny.
Army Wives
I know, I know...a little cliche, but I am addicted to it. haha. Finally catching up with this past season. :)
Game of Thrones
This show is epic, amazing, fantastic, gross, gory...it's a must see. Tyler started reading the books and loves them. Guess I should get on that before season 2 starts!

Ok, well, I think that about covers the shows we watch religiously that are still on. I may have missed some, but oh well...you get the idea. We did watch things like Entourage and Hell's Kitchen, but these are the new things we currently watch. Now, you may be asking yourself, how do you have time to watch all of these shows? Simple, they all don't air at the same time. For some of these shows, the season is already over or almost over; for some, the season has just begun. If you budget your time and occasionally do other things like work on HW or fold laundry during them, you have plenty of time for all of these shows. I've also had to time to make sure I'm caught up because we don't have regular TV or cable...we just rely on DVDs or what Tyler has on his hard drive. Oh Germany.
Unfortunately, I have to take a small hiatus from some of these shows since Tyler is off training yet again. Sigh. :( I miss him already.
