Words for Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Friends! Hope you all had a great Wednesday! Mine was full of cleaning and, well, dancing. Haha. Gotta love music while you clean! Also, I have some good news...the one company has started the background/reference check on me...that means I'm a finalist! HOORAY!
Now, here are some words for the day...

I'm Back!

Good Morning everyone! Happy Monday to ya!
I apologize for the impromptu hiatus, but you know, sometimes we all need a little break from things.

Something you may or may not have known about me, I love lists. When I email people, sometimes I email in bullet point. So, what better way to update you on what's been going on than with a list :p

The Job Hunt...
  • After the phone interview and testing for the one company, I got a call to come in for an in-person interview. I had a whole schedule that included interview times with four different people! AH! I hear back this week.
  • That interview I had with the shelving company (it's the one where I would be doing temporary customer service calling) well, the interview went well, but they said they would pass. They didn't really say why, but the staffing agency thinks it's because they thought I was overqualified or too experienced or something. Sigh. Probably better this way.
  • I had an interview to be an insurance salesman (ahhh!). Boy, did they love me! I told them no. Honestly, I can't see myself going in to companies and being like, hey, buy this policy. It's not me, and I know I wouldn't be happy.
  • Tyler got a job at Magginos being a server! Hooray! He starts training next week :)
Life...
  • We're finally getting the apartment together. Slowly, but surely. I really do love our new place, but in the future, I would like to have a dining area and a guest room/office.
  •  We're trying to plan when to have a house-warming party. I really don't know why this has been so difficult, but it is. Trying to find a good weekend is next to impossible it seems. That, and Tyler's birthday is coming up, so we thought, why not combine them! Well, now the problem is, we don't know when he'll be scheduled for his new job. Ugh. Any ideas? I really want this to happen. I love throwing parties.
  • When decorating the apartment, sometimes what I have in mind, and what Tyler has in mind, are two totally different things. We try to compromise, and usually do, but sometimes, one person just has to win. Haha.
  • Still trying to stain our wine rack. There were some hiccups (it was finished wood and we thought it wasn't, ran out of sand paper, there was a huge rain storm...), but we should be getting back on track :)
  • We saw the film, Friends With Kids. I really enjoyed that movie, but it's a lot darker than I thought it would be.
  • On St. Patrick's Day, we didn't do much, but we did go to the mall to get Tyler's work clothes. Then, we made dinner and watched a movie. What was our dinner? Saurbraten, Spaetzle, and salad. Yay for German food! hehe. So good.
Well friends, I think that about does it! I promise I will have pictures up of our place/how decorating is going soon. :) Have a great day!

What to do Wednesday

Hello Friends! Happy Hump Day, hehe. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Tyler's Army buddy got here Friday evening and we went out for some delicious Sushi. Then, we came home, drank a lot of beer and watched movies. Good Friday night if ya ask me. I may have preferred to drink wine, but hey, what ya gonna do.
Saturday Tyler, myself, and his parents went to Spamalot. It's such a fun show! I loved it! Before we went to the show, we hung out in Hollywood and had a delicious dinner. After the show, we walked around came home and crashed. Tyler's friend was so tired from all of his traveling, that he enjoyed just coming back and watching some movies.
Sunday, I  helped with photo shoot. I got sun burnt, but it was still a good time. :)

Yesterday, I had a phone interview, and then was emailed some tests to take. The phone interview went well, but I only did ok on the tests. I hope they call me back, I would really enjoy working there. While taking the tests today, the staffing agency called me, and they got me an interview for tomorrow! Woohoo! It's doing temporary customer service calling for a shelving company, but ya know, I feel like I shouldn't be too picky at the moment. Thoughts?

Not only am I trying to decide/figure what to do with my life, I'm also trying to decide what this blog is for me. I enjoy writing, but do people care? Does it matter if people read this or care? I kind of do this for me anyway (and no, I'm not just saying that). I feel a blog is a great outlet for telling others about your life, ideas, projects, jobs, what you're selling, etc.
I mean, I do need to get on a better schedule, but do people want to read about my life and things I care about? Do I have a voice? Do I have a good writing style? Do I need to post more pictures? My questions could go on and on. But I digress. I'll figure it out, but advice, thoughts, ideas are always appreciated :).
Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you've had a great day!

Goals, Oscars, and Life

Hello friends! Happy Friday!

Let's review my goals for the week and how I'm doing, shall we?
This week I have some goals for myself:
1. Start a new workout routine (new chapter = new routine)
So far, I've been getting in to a good routine. I kinda strained a muscle in my glute/leg from working out, so I've just been easing myself in with some cardio and stretching. Seems to be helping a little bit.Today, I think I'm going to do some yoga.
2. Apply for more jobs (this includes temp agencies)
Sigh, I really hate this one, but I've applied to a few temp agencies, so, we'll see what happens!
3. Make delicious dinners ( I have 2 planned already :) )
Well, Tuesday, we went to Tyler's parents' for dinner since it was his aunt's birthday. Since his mom had left overs, we took them home, and that's what we had to dinner Wednesday. Thursday, we still had leftovers to eat, so I left well enough alone, and just heated those up! Tonight I was going to make lasagna, but I can't for the life of me find our ground sausage. We bought it Monday and put it in the freezer, where it went from there, I have no idea. Sigh. Guess I'm making that rosemary chicken linguine dish I saw in a cook book. I mean, that sounds delicious, but I was really feeling the lasagna.
4. Become better at creating blog titles (haha, this may take time)
Well, what do you think? haha...I think it could use some more work. Like I said, this may take some time....

So, I guess I didn't do too poorly on my goals for the week. What do you think? I'll be sure to fill y'all in on how the weekend goes.
This weekend is going to be a pretty relaxing one. We really don't have any plans. What?! All we have to do is decorate and get the apartment more put together, look for jobs, oh yeah, and watch the Oscars on Sunday. :D If you're new to this blog, you do not yet know of my deep Oscar obsession. It's bad. I have no idea why I'm so obsessed with them, but I've been this way since I was a kid. Which reminds me, I need to get my Oscar winner predictions ready to go! Guess I should get to that. Have a blessed day everybody!

Well, Hello There Monday!

And, it's Monday again. Where did the weekend go? Sometimes, I think they go by too quickly. I mean, it's not like I have anything real pressing to do anyway.
Thursday, I had my interview at 9. Like I said in my last post, it was ok, but I've done better. I've done MUCH worse. I could kind of tell that one of the woman didn't really like me, and honestly, she rubbed me the wrong way. Oh well. I found out the next day, in the evening, that I didn't get the job. I think it's for the best...something better will come along, right?
Speaking of Friday, that morning, the family dog (kind of Tyler's dog) Buddy starting shaking and acting really weird. He just wasn't himself. So, we told Tyler's mom and they went off to the vet. Tyler and I would've gone, but he had to take placement tests at his college. I had to go with him because we were going to sign our apartment lease after. Buddy had blood tests, ultra-sounds, and x-rays...poor thing. It was finally determined that there were 3 rocks in his intestines and he needed surgery. He was rushed to the emergency vet, where they took more x-rays and did that thing where they take a video camera inside you. While looking for the rocks, they decided they were far enough along, that he could just pass them naturally. But, he was so dehydrated, and his pancreas was inflamed, so they kept him over night. :(
The next morning (Saturday), Tyler's mom and I went to go get him. Boy, was he happy to come home. Buddy is doing well, but still has some shaky pain moments. He's on a restricted diet, lots of rest, and of course, pain meds. I hope he gets better soon.

Saturday afternoon, Tyler, his parents, and myself went to a "Life Celebration" for his neighbor that has passed away. It was beautiful. There were videos, pictures, and wonderful words spoken. After that, there was lots of wine and appetizers. I think that's how I want my funeral to be...a celebration of my life. It was so great. Afterwards, we went and saw The Artist. Oh man, if you haven't seen that movie, I HIGHLY recommend it. It is a silent film, but it's great! I loved it.
Sunday, Tyler and his dad were off to Los Olivos to pick up Tyler's mom's valentine's day present ( a wine barrel), so his mom and I prepared food for the Superbowl. In the afternoon, Tyler got a call, and we officially have an apartment! I can't wait to move out and have our own space!!! I'm so excited!!! Eh hem...anyway...back to the Superbowl...now, honestly, I don't really care about the Superbowl...I watch it for the commercials, the half-time show, and the social aspect. Haha. There were a couple good commercials, but honestly, I remember them being a bigger deal. Speaking of being a bigger deal, let's talk Madonna. I enjoy Madonna, and I enjoyed the half-time show, but honestly, it was nothing to right home about. Ah well.

So friends, it's Monday again. Buddy has a doctor's appointment to check up on him, Tyler starts school (YAY!), and I, well, I will  figure out something to do haha. I always do. :) Happy Monday!

Great Finds

Wow! It's Saturday already? Can you believe it? Where did Thursday and Friday go? I'll tell you.
Thursday consisted of apartment hunting and playing phone tag with a potential future employer. I just have to have another phone and in-person interview. Tyler and I fell in love with this one apartment, now all we have to do is get approved and we'll be moving out of his parents house. Woohoo! I'm so ready and excited!
Yesterday, Friday, we test drove a car, went out to dinner, and just stayed home, relaxed, watched a movie, and had some wine. A good night if you ask me. Oh yeah, we also got this amazing coffee table from Craigslist.

This, my friends, was only $25. WHAT?! The previous owners only had it for 5 years, so it's in pretty good condition; only a few scratches and what not. Tyler and I want to change the drawer handles, but other than that, we love it! Our future apartment is slowly, but surely coming together.

Oh Times They are a Changin'

In my last post, I discussed all the changes coming up in our lives...finding a car, finding a job, finding an apartment, Tyler starting school again...so much is happening. I kind of just want to sit and enjoy my time a bit more. Money, a car, and our own place would be great though. Haha.

I did have a job interview today, and I think it went well! Here's hoping!!

Since we're apartment hunting, I've been looking for decorating ideas on Pinterest. Oh man, they have some really cute ideas! be I mean, they're more ideas for future houses, but maybe, just maybe some of these could work for an apartment. :)

Pressure...ahhh!

1. There's pressure in my nose/head. Stupid cold.
2. There is the pressure of moving and making sure we have everything packed and cleaned up. This is approaching WAY too quickly :(
3. There is pressure, oh so much pressure about finding a car, a job, and an apartment once we get back to the states.

AH! Oh, so much pressure. Now, if you're like me, the song, Under Pressure by Queen is stuck in your head. Please enjoy :p

Time to Move On...

So, I've been forgetting to mention something...Tyler and I are moving soon. No more Army for us, at least, for now anyway. Moving is always stressful, but this move, well, I really don't know how I feel about it. On the one hand, I'm super excited to go back to California and be with friends and Tyler's family, but on the other hand, I know I'm going to miss Germany and the new friends I made here. Plus, I don't even get to see my family or some friends I still have in Texas :(. I feel like there is still more I could do here in Germany, but alas, my time is coming to an end. I'm also scared, well, maybe nervous is more accurate, about finding a job and going back to work.
Now, along with deciding what things I can live without for about 3 months (that's how long it can take for them to ship our stuff to us ahhh!), I'm looking for jobs, and an apartment. Looking for an apartment is fun, but sucks because I can't go look at any yet. I absolutely hate looking for jobs. There are so many I feel I could do/am qualified for, but according to the requirements, I supposedly am not qualified for the job, sigh. Anybody have any good sites I should look for jobs on? I am using a lot, but I am always open to suggestions.
Speaking of job hunting, I always thought I was pretty good at interviews, but, 2 or 3 years ago, I was told after one interview I did for my school I wasn't. What?! No one else had ever told me that. And trust me, if I didn't get a job that I really wanted I inquired why and what I could do better next time. Ah well, maybe it was a fluke thing, or maybe I need to prepare more. I do know one thing I struggle with is what questions to ask. Anybody have any suggestions on questions to ask and/or interview tips for me?
Anyway, I'm excited and yet very scared for this new chapter in our lives. But, ya know what? I bet it's going to be a good one. :)
